Intracranial stereotactic radiosurgery (Editors: LD Lunsford and J Sheehan)

چکیده
Further exploration This book has everything for the neurosurgeon, oncologist, physicist, and allied health professionals involved in the delivery of intracranial radiosurgery. It covers all the common (and not so common) indications for its use ranging from vascular malformations, benign and malignant tumors to functional disorders and less common indications such as ocular disorders. For those interested in the historical evolution of the technique of stereotactic radiosurgery, it is very interesting to read how it developed from modest beginnings and evolved over the decades. For the basic scientist, it deals with the fundamental principles of radiobiology and physics which are important in understanding how the treatment works. Above all, it is essential reading for the clinically practicing radiosurgeon/oncologist in terms of current indications, outcomes, and complications, which are the fundamental nuggets of information we share with our patients on a day‐to‐day basis.

Stereotactic radiosurgery guideline for the management of patients with intracranial arteriovenous malformations.
Our objective was to provide guidelines about the use of stereotactic radiosurgery in symptomatic patients with imaging-identified arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the brain. We reviewed evidence-based medicine and clinical experience with radiosurgery for AVM of the brain to develop guidelines and provide scientific foundation for patients and physicians. Major recommendations include the...
متن کاملStereotactic radiosurgery of intracranial chordomas, chondrosarcomas, and glomus tumors.
Chordomas and chondrosarcomas are rare, slow-glowing, locally aggressive tumors with high recurrence rates. Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) is an important management option for patients with recurrent or residual chordomas and chondrosarcomas. Glomus jugulare tumor are rare highly vascularized tumors that arise from the paraganglionic structures of the glossopharyngeal and vagal nerves. Becaus...
متن کاملAngiographic complications during stereotactic radiosurgery for cerebral arteriovenous malformations.
During the past 20 years, stereotactic radiosurgery in the form of a multisource cobalt-60 gamma knife has been used to treat more than 1500 selected cases of intracranial arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) worldwide (1-5). Precise three-dimensional localization of the target volume is required for computer planning and radiation dose determination (6). Although either computed tomography (CT) ...
متن کاملStereotactic radiosurgery for pituitary adenomas: an intermediate review of its safety, efficacy, and role in the neurosurgical treatment armamentarium.
OBJECT Pituitary adenomas are very common neoplasms, constituting between 10 and 20% of all primary brain tumors. Historically, the treatment armamentarium for pituitary adenomas has included medical management, microsurgery, and fractionated radiotherapy. More recently, radiosurgery has emerged as a viable treatment option. The goal of this research was to define more fully the efficacy, safet...
متن کاملDevelopment of A Head Docking Device for Linac-based Stereotactic Radiosurgery System to be Installed on Neptun 10 PC Linac
Introduction: Stereotactic radiosurgery is a technique for the treatment of intracranial lesions with highly collimated x-ray beam. Linac-based radiosurgery is currently performed by two techniques: couch or pedestal mounted. In the first technique, a device is required to affix patient's head to a couch and moreover to translate it accurately. Structure of suc...
